“Most of us have grown up seeing the world as a place of limitation rather than as a place of inexhaustible treasures. A world of competition rather than one of co-creation.
Go looking for conflict, and you‘ll find it. Go looking for people to take advantage of you, and they generally will. See the world as a dog-eat-dog place, and you‘ll always find a bigger dog looking at you as if you‘re his next meal. Go looking for the best in people, and you‘ll be amazed at how much talent, ingenuity, empathy and good will you‘ll find.
Trying to be successful with making money as your goal is like trying to travel a superhighway at seventy miles an hour with your eyes glued to the rear view mirror.” (Go-Giver)
“Studies show that if people expect something to go wrong with their health, it often does. Negative expectations can influence our bodies and cause symptoms that over time may cause the body harm. In one study, women who expected that they were inclined to heart attack were nearly 4x as likely to die as a women with similar risk factors but without these expectations. Another study found that patients who were warned about stomach side-effects of taking aspirin were 3x more likely to feel them. Beliefs have biological consequences- good and bad.
Our genes and life experiences determine how our neurons connect thereby influencing and setting limits for our behavior.”
